Another H2 Hotel is now following those in Leipzig and Düsseldorf, namely in the university town of Saarbrücken. Known as a working village and old industrial center with glass and iron industry, we have integrated parts of Saarbrücken’s city history in the interior of the new hotel building with its integrated shop spaces and combined them with recurring design elements of the other two hotels we designed.
We were commissioned with the planning of the interior of the reception including the lobby, the rooms, the restaurant with hub, as well as the hallways already in 2019. The so-called “Schwenker Lounge” adjoining the reception is a tribute to the Saarland. Interpreted in a modern way, the freely hanging swivel grill serves as a lounge table. The round ceiling lamps that can also be found in the lobby in Düsseldorf were modified and complemented with a metal grid. The material metal is to be found in the form of a suspended grid screen also in the restaurant. A special feature, however, is the combination of reception and hub sharing one counter, so that a more efficient and room-saving dual use is achieved. In addition, we have used well-known elements here in order to create a recognition value. Here, too, there are single, double and multi-bed rooms. The special feature: the light/dark contrast in the hotel tract, which is taken up in rooms and hallways. Thus, for instance, in the double room there is a clear “cut” through the room that by means of color delimits the various areas. Just like in Düsseldorf, an open design is implemented in the bathroom design.
