Set amidst the vineyards of Nordheim am Main, in the distinctive Franconian landscape, the Weingut am Kreuzberg has been thoughtfully expanded to merge architecture with the culture of wine. The addition of a vinotheque with tasting spaces, a versatile event area, and a culinary workshop transforms the winery into a place where materiality, spatial experience, and atmosphere come together in a coherent architectural composition.
The chalets are designed as intimate retreats with a strong connection to their surroundings. Natural materials such as Franconian oak, shell limestone, and clay plaster define the tactile quality of the interiors while ensuring a balanced indoor climate. Each chalet is dedicated to a specific grape variety, reflected in its color scheme and detailing. Large pivot windows frame the landscape, extending the interior into nature, while custom-built cabinetry with laser-engraved vine motifs integrates craftsmanship with subtle storytelling.
At the heart of the project stands the vinotheque, set for completion in May 2025. The central tasting counter, crafted from clay plaster with golden accents, balances aesthetics with functional clarity. Wooden shelving structures frame the wines, while the open kitchen workshop - equipped with a high-end cooking block - encourages shared culinary experiences. Flexible sliding elements allow the seminar room to adapt seamlessly for wine tastings, workshops, and exclusive events. A space where architecture does more than provide shelter - it creates identity.
