Some time ago, we had already reported about our collaboration with the Swedish hotel property company Pandox and in this context about the redesign of a hotel in Nuremberg. This was about the former Maritim Hotel. It is currently being renovated and is supposed to reopen as hotel Pomander in the second quarter 2023. Apart from 311 rooms and suites, the hotel disposes of a range of high-end gastronomy outlets, sports, wellness and event areas, as well as several meeting rooms and co-working spaces.
We designed the interior of rooms and hallways. Here, the motto of the hotel Pomander, “find time” is being played: comfortable, timeless and calm design, in which the guests take center stage. Therefore, the design of the hallways is unobtrusive and restrained; only the striking floor, reminiscent of liquid ink, stands out. As this project is about a construction inside an existing building, the elements and cubature of the existing space were integrated in the hallways and the more than 20 different room types – from junior suite to twin room up to family room. Thus, for instance, the existing wooden wall was maintained as a traditional element and combined with modern components like the console table with the subjacent minibar in a cubic shape, which develops into a desk, and open storage elements. In this way, the aspect of sustainability is also integrated in the project, as materials and objects are given a second life.
