Restaurant CLAAS

Hamburg, Germany

The CLAAS is a statement – this was also the client’s assignment. Here, one went all the way: 4.35m clear room height, 400m² restaurant space with 144 seats inside, another 80 seats for guests in the inner courtyard and an impressively sized 50m² show kitchen live up to the claim of the CLAAS.

From the heightened champagne tables near the design show kitchen, one has the best view onto the host’s culinary art. A little more intimate atmosphere is provided by the directly adjacent seating niches. Discreet acoustics, cozy and opulently upholstered. The Deep Blue Sea takes up the colors of the focus of the kitchen – fish fresh from the sea – and transports this with dazzling shades of aquamarine, matt deep-sea blue and shimmering accents in the generous guest area. The new CLAAS is sensual in every corner. Genuine craftsmanship on walls and floors, and custom-made  wood craft furniture. As a clear statement, the transparent wine house characterizes the generous entrée, where the Maître welcomes the guests. The more than 300 bottles shine in golden, illuminated tubes; the smooth room divider made of flexible, black metal scales separates the wardrobe.

The ultimate highlight, however, is the 30m long, monumental, moving light installation on the ceiling. An impressive work of art consisting of 2,600 silvery fish made of translucent mirror glass, very delicate, blown, each one a unique piece. Together a giant school of fish.
